Ryan Atkinson - President

Ryan is the industry's premier expert on marketing independent bicycle retailers, with over 20 years of related experience. He has worked in almost every aspect of the Trek retail distribution network, from turning wrenches at the local bike shop to launching new products at Trek. His background and current focus as founder of Harvest make him uniquely situated to help independent bicycle dealers with their marketing needs.

Originally from Nebraska, where Harvest is located today, Ryan started working as a bike builder in college. He isn't a bad mechanic so he advanced to a service writer and eventually service manager. After college he moved to Albuquerque, New Mexico with every intention of going to law school. But the gravitational pull of the bike industry can be pretty powerful, he ended up as Manager at a successful Trek dealership instead.

In 2000, Ryan found his way to a position in the sales department at Trek Bicycle Corporation. Trek was growing quickly at the time and Ryan advanced rapidly into brand management within the marketing department at Trek. During his five years in marketing, Ryan managed the Gary Fisher, LeMond, Bontrager and Klein brands. His noteworthy accomplishments include the establishment of the 29er platform as a viable product for Trek and the launch of phase one of Trek University.

Ryan co-founded Harvest Retail Marketing in the spare bedroom of his home in 2007. He started with a single client and through generous referrals and a little bit of hard work Harvest grew steadily. Today Harvest is an independent small business utilizing results-driven marketing techniques to serve US independent bicycle dealerships.

Ryan is passionate about enhancing marketing for the country’s best bicycle dealers. He believes that retailers who invest in his solutions will maximize their long-term growth and profitability. This belief has helped him build lasting partnerships with many of the nation's top bicycle dealers.

Today, Ryan manages the Harvest organization that he considers the industry's best team of retail marketers. He travels the country visiting with the best bicycle retailers to identify opportunities to grow retail sales in a changing market. He is on the leading edge of identifying trends and works to help Harvest customers pivot in response.
